I bought this iron to solder pl-259 connectors on to coax. The large tip makes it easier to heat up the connector fast so you don’t melt the shield.

I own this item (without the “G” on the end of the model number). My stained glass teacher sold it to me with a package of materials and I needed a Weller tip 3/16″ that was slightly hard to find! I was at my next to last lesson and told we probably needed the smaller tip, so now my stained glass piece is temporarily overloaded with solder because this 100W unit is sold with no selection of particular tip size. The one that came on mine is about twice the size of what the teacher recommended. See what your teacher wants you to have in tips before you think this purchase is all you might need. And I did find one person on AMAZON who will sell tips without buying in bulk. Happy stained glassing!

I was taking a stained glass class, and this product was being sold by them for $27 more! For the same thing! I called all over the country, and Amazon came through with the Exact product I needed, for the fairest price in the country. I would recommend it to anyone! And it works great!
