Probably a good saw, but not for mosaic Rating:3 out of 5 stars We were looking for a tile cutter to use to cut glass mosaic tile we purchased to put in our kitchen as a backsplash. I was excited to see this cutter and the description says glass and mosaic, but buyer beware it didn’t work for us. We have glass one by one tiles that are attached on a 12 inch sheet. This cutter did not do a good job at all in trying to cut these tiles. All the edges were rough, splintered and unusable. Might have worked better on larger individual glass tiles. We ended up getting a wheeled tile nipper and each tile had to be cut individually though time consuming the nipper did a much better job. We were very dissappointed, but Amazon.com’s great customer service took it back and we ended up very happy in the end. I gave it three stars because I think for regular and maybe even larger glass it would do a good job, but I wouldn’t reccomend it for small glass mosaic.

“The coloring of stained glass being produced in the furnace, it is not possible to apply the colors known to the artist who works with the brush. Every color is a chemical compound, and in the intense heat of glass-making all commonly known colors would disappear or change into undesired hues.
Therefore the glass-maker who wishes to produce a red, for example, has no such simple resource as that of mixing red pigment into the batch. The coloring materials required for his use are substances that look quite unlike any color that he hopes finally to get; they are chemicals which under fierce heat will break up, rearrange themselves in new combinations, and thus develop into color.”
